House Martin Services - The Professional Handyman Service
Hello I'm the House Martin,
For thirty years I've been tackling handyman jobs.
These days people are busier than ever to maintain or repair for themselves.
Your time is valuable so I'm here to help.

The difference:
I'm pleased my customers are happy with the jobs I do because I take pride in my work.
I hear stories of unreliable people turning up late and doing poor work so I aim to be different. And with so much repeat business I must be getting it right.

Your jobs:
Often you will have a list of jobs for me with the most pressing ones first.
Typically, single women, working couples, families with busy husbands, or the elderly contact me for everyday jobs taking between an hour and a day. But, while putting up a shelf might take half an hour, refitting a bathroom could take several days.
The types of work I regularly perform are listed here but if your job is not shown please email me. If I can't tackle it I might be able to recommend someone.

Leave me to it:
Maybe also being a cub-leader people feel they can trust me because often I am left to work with a key under the mat, a note and a contact phone number. However, not everyone is this comfortable so it not a problem if you prefer to be around.

How I work:
Either call me out to give you a free estimate or simply pay for the time taken to have your jobs done. Each method has advantages.

Estimates:
An estimate gives you a fixed labour cost. Materials will be additional (charged at cost) unless you supply everything. Trivial things I use like screws, nails or glue are seldom charged but anything unexpectedly needed (plus the time and mileage to get it) will also be additional to the estimate.
Note: Estimates are normally arranged for Thursday evenings and normally provided by email.

Charging by time:
Working through your list of jobs is often cheaper than an itemised estimate because moving quickly from job to job is more efficient. Unused parts of each chargeable half hour simply go towards the next job. You don't pay for time having a break (if needed) but you do pay for time (and mileage) needed to rush off and purchase something required to complete the job.

2008 Rates:
It costs £25 for the first half-hour and £12.50 per half-hour thereafter. Show rates

Insurance:
Full public liability insurance is carried so you can have confidence that if anything untoward should happen you are covered.

Satisfaction:
Satisfaction is guaranteed so if you are not happy with the work, it will be done again or put right at no charge.
